Peace Committee Meetings Held Ahead of Muharram in Ranchi

Ranchi district’s various police stations hosted peace committee meetings ahead of Muharram. During these meetings, the Muharram Committee discussed the security measures needed in their areas with the police. The police also shared guidelines for the committee to follow.

The Muharram Committee members requested the deployment of female police officers in some areas and asked for barricading near temples in others. The police emphasized their commitment to ensuring Muharram is observed peacefully and harmoniously. They also advised the committee members to ignore rumors and assist the police in maintaining law and order.

In Ratu, the Muharram procession, originally planned for July 17

will now take place on July 18. The change is due to the Ghurtari Rath Yatra on July 17, which would complicate law enforcement efforts. A peace committee meeting was held at the Ratu police station, where the Bhoda Tangra Muharram Committee and Central Muharram Committee Kathitand agreed to the new date. During the procession, members also requested barricading near the Mahadev Tangra temple.
