IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, IIM Ranchi, and the National University of Study and Research (National Law University) have all made significant improvements in their NIRF rankings this year.
NIRF 2024 rankings
released by the Ministry of Education on Monday, IIT Dhanbad climbed to 35th place in the overall category, making it one of the top 100 institutions in the country. Last year, it was ranked 42nd. The institution also improved its position in the Engineering category, moving up two spots to 15th place among the top 100 engineering institutions. In the Research category, IIT Dhanbad secured the 22nd position, up from 24th last year. However, the institute saw a slight drop in the Management category, slipping from 44th to 46th place.
IIM Ranchi also showed remarkable progress, jumping to 17th place in the Management category, up from 24th last year. This improvement cements its position as one of the top management institutions in the country.
The National University of Study and Research in Ranchi, located in Kanke, continued to be the top-ranked law institution in the state, advancing two places to 22nd in the Law category.
Unfortunately, no institution from Jharkhand made it to the NIRF rankings for the first time this year. NIT Jamshedpur also failed to secure a spot once again.
This year, no government university or college from Jharkhand made it to the top 100 in the NIRF rankings. Even in the newly introduced State Public University category, no university from the state managed to secure a position.
Similarly, in the Medical, Dental, and Agriculture & Allied Sciences categories, Jharkhand's institutions did not make the cut. The Innovation category also saw no representation from the state.
For the first time, the rankings included Open Universities and Skill Universities, featuring three institutions in each category. However, none of these were from Jharkhand.
BIT Mesra in Ranchi showed improvement in the Engineering category, moving up to 15th place from 17th last year. However, it saw a decline in other categories. In the University category, BIT Mesra slipped from 71st to 82nd place, and in the Management category, it dropped from 77th to 90th place. In the Pharmacy category, BIT Mesra was ranked 32nd, down from 28th last year. The institution managed to maintain its 20th position in the Architecture category.
